Motiva Marks National First Responders Day with $75K+ in Local Emergency Response Grants
October 29, 2026
In recognition of National First Responders Day (October 28), Motiva Enterprises LLC announced the 2026 recipients of its First Responder Grant Program, awarding $75,260 to 16 emergency response organizations in three Texas counties that host Motiva’s assets.
This year’s grants will help local organizations invest in the equipment, training, and educational resources they need to respond safely and effectively when their communities need them most.
Among the 2026 recipients is the Jefferson County Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC), which received a $5,000 grant to purchase monitoring equipment and communication technology for the county's Emergency Management Office and Emergency Operations Center. The investment will strengthen emergency preparedness, improve coordination among response partners, and support faster, more effective communication during critical incidents.
Strong communication is essential during an emergency. This funding will help ensure our response partners can share information quickly, effectively strengthening our ability to protect the community and maintain critical services during times of need.

Through the program, eligible organizations receive grants of up to $10,000 per applicant to fund the purchase of safety equipment, professional training, or safety education programs. The 2026 awards mark the programs sixth grant cycle. Since launching the Motiva First Responder Grant Program in 2021, Motiva has awarded more than $675,000 across its operating territory.
"When emergencies occur, timely communication and coordination are essential to protecting our people and communities," said Jeff Newman, Motiva Executive Vice President, Operations. "We're proud to support organizations like the Jefferson County LEPC that play a vital role in helping local agencies prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents."
Grant recipients recently gathered at Motiva’s Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex to receive their awards and participate in emergency response planning.
National First Responders Day is observed annually on October 28 to recognize the paramedics, EMTS, firefighters, police officers, and 911 operators who answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line. Serving as a national day of gratitude, National First Responders Day pays tribute to their services to their communities and honors fallen first responders.
